I've never known about the whisper function. Very good to know. That feature is well hidden.

The issue for me is more that /w is a command while any other plain text is a message. Dynamic coloring is a possible solution, but now that there are >2 ways to use the same box I think it might be good to consider UI that reflects the possibilities. Also good to add to the discoverability.

A "whisper" button would also be nice IMO. Like the GG, HF etc buttons at the bottom of the text block, just permanently available. It could highlight while in use so that it's easy to know if whisper mode is on.
This colour change is a nice idea, thanks for the quick change. Just a heads up though, now it also changes colour if you use /w in the spectators' chat room, which is a bit silly because there /w doesn't do anything.

Whisper messages of the players should be clearly marked/colored in the spectator chat as well. Very frequently people just don't know about that option and are wondering why a player "chats with the spectators"...

Speaking of the whisper feature, are there any preventions in place so that players wouldn't just go to incognito mode and check the chat there?
