Bishop versus knight endgame

Today I played as an anonymous player quite an interesting endgame (could and should have won it/been better in the middlegame, around move 40 I should have lost it). At around move 50 we reached an bishop versus knight endgame, and my only hope was shielding my pawn from the white knight and use the bishop as a means of protecting against the white pawn mass. Despite mistakes and certain untried resources from both sides the general pattern of play left a deep impression upon me, showcasing the potential power of bishops over knights. Also, I'm glad to have played such a game given the time control (0+4).

Perhaps, more than anything, this endgame showed the importance of an active king. That could have contributed more to the result and quality of play than the material imbalance.
48.Nd6+ won the bishop. 48.Nxh6? was indeed an interesting draw. Problem is, black does not have the time to play eg. 47...Ba8 to prevent the fork, because then the Knight returns just in time:

47...Ba8 48.Nxh6 Kc4 49.f5 Kxb4 50.f6 Bd5 51.f7 Bxf7 52.Nxf7 Kc3 53.Nd6! b4 54.Nb7! b3 55.Nc5 b2 56.Na4+ and wins.

So the endgame was lost for black.
